Giving

This is a bit of a late post guys, but before I left for Perth we covered "giving" as the final part of the 3-fold chord: pray/fast/give. Here's the skeleton of notes - I used some of Sue Strachan's notes, so if you want an AWESOME run down on giving, tithing, etc - Sue's notes on giving from Missions Sunday (8 June) is phenomenal! Also, the site "Christ notes" has good stuff on sowing and reaping, which I also used! Love Niks xox

"WHEN" YOU GIVE, NOT IF!
Just like prayer and fasting, Jesus says in Matthew 6:1 "WHEN you give" not "if" - giving is supposed to be a part of everyday life. It's supposed to be 'the norm'! A constant thing! Like prayer and fasting, it's not a random, one-off event. It's a manner of living, a lifestyle, a way we must live.
We must LIVE with generous, open, giving hearts - praise God that he produces His own character of generosity in us, so the more we know Him, the more we want to give - in our own strength and nature, we want to be selfish. I am selfish, Jesus loves to give. Amen!

Giving, like fasting, is a physical/tangible expression of what is happening in our heart. The love of Christ in our heart compels us to give. Because our God is infinitely generous and giving, and His Spirit lives in us!

GIVING IS AN INVESTMENT, NOT A LOSS
Sometimes we view giving the wrong way - as a chore, a religious ritual, a loss. A loss of time, a loss of money, a loss of energy - whatever it is we're giving. But Jesus says in Matthew 16:25-26 "If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything wort more than your soul?"
When you give, you're gaining. When you give righteously, you're investing in the Kingdom of Heaven!
When you give time to someone in need, love someone who doesn't deserve it, give more than your ability in the offering at church - you're making a PHYSICAL action that is actually SPIRITUAL. Remember, a true Christian doesn not separate the physical and the spiritual - we went over this when we did baptism.
By giving in the physical realm, you are SPIRITUALLY storing up treasures in heaven.

Matthew 6:19 "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven..."
Jesus is saying "You're not of this world! Seek the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and concentrate on storing up your treaures there, not the kingdom of this world, where everything will rust away and decay and perish - just a your earthly bodies will!"
"Where your treasure is," he finishes, "There your heart will also be"
Basically, if you store up your treasure on EARTH - in the form of material things for yourself, your desires will be fixated there. You won't be able to get your mind off that latest iPhone; you'll be caught up in the latest fashions - and it's perfectly ok to ENJOY these things (God is most glorified when we are joyful!) but if your heart is fixated on them, it leads to obsession.
If earthly things is where your heart is - your fixation, your focus, your everything - you are storing up your treasures there. You are putting your heart into something that is subject to time and change. You're guaranteed to be disappointed because the things of the worldly kingdom will change and rot away, can be stolen and taken away from you - don't put your heart there beautiful ones! Don't invest in that!
Invest in the kingdom of Heaven - which is the same yesterday, today and forever. Where NOTHING and NOBODY can take that from you! It is impossible to be dissatisfied when you give to THAT cause.

YOURE LEVEL OF LIVING DEPENDS ON YOUR LEVEL OF GIVING
The world (secular living) says your life will be better if you keep everything for yourself. (In other words, self GAIN is better according to the world). But GOD says your life will be better if you make ANOTHER person's life better.
Peter declares to the church leaders in Acts 20:35 "it is more blessed to give than receive"
The world says: you're more blessed when you receive.
Jesus says: you're actually more blessed when you give!

SOWING AND REAPING
Galatians 6:7-9 "Don't be misled - you cannot mock the justice of God. You always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy theur own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up."

The principle of giving and receiving, of reaping and sowing, applies in many areas of life.
E.g. if you invest an hour a day into exercising, than you will reap the benefits of that investment - a strong healthy body. However, if you invest that same time flipping channels on the tv, you will reap the benefits of THAT investment - a wasted hour.
If you smoke, you could reap a smokers cough and possibly lung cancer
If you overspend, you will reap calls from the banks and possibly poverty

God isn't punishing us by saying "you will reap what you sow". He's giving us the FREEDOM OF CHOICE to sow as we please and is telling it like it is.

Paul wasn't just talking about time and money when he penned the letter of Galatians.
He's talking about sowing INTO the lives of others. In the very next verse he says
"Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone - especially those in the family of faith".

If you give mercy, you will reap mercy.
If you give patience, you will reap patience.
If you give forgivenes, you will reap forgiveness.
If you give friendship, you will reap friendship.
(It's important to note that you won't always receive from the same place you give)

Proverbs 11:25 "If you give generously you will reap generously"

2 Corinthians 9:6-9 "Remember this - a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully".

SO! Make a choice - decide - to give FREELY (not wanting anything in return) for others. ACTIVELY look for ways to bless others, and be a blessing. The most recent example I can think of is Ellie Davidson - as soon as she walked into Eastgate Church, she got a taste of God's love and immediately set out to see how she could serve - cooking the community meal, helping out at the drop in centre...God's love does crazy things in our heart!

SOWING PHYSICALLY REAPS SPIRITUALLY
Now this is not just about money - but I want to use money as an example. Because MONEY IS SEED - Jesus devotes of 2 thirds or the parables to money and possessions.
So giving money is SOWING seeds.
Tithing: tithe means "first fruits". It means "a 10th of". It came in BEFORE the law (when Abraham was hanging around). We are children of Abraham, remember!
Tithing is a faith response to God - a love response. It's saying "I trust you God, that this harvest is going to be blessed". It wasn't talked about in the New Testament because it was a UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLE. Tithing is about THE HOUSE (your house, my house, and God's house - the church!)
He says "I will look after you - you won't even know what to do with all I give you! Just trust me with what you've got, which I gave to you anyway!"
So, tithing represents TRUSTING God to look after me.

Offering: But there's WAY more than just the house - there's a HARVEST! A massive harvest - THE harvest.
2 Corinthians 9:10 says "If you become a sower, you will be given MORE and MORE to sow". It doesn't say OUR seed will increase - when God has fulfilled our daily needs we don't need any more - what He said is that he will increase the STORE of seed. He will give us what we need - and then bundles more for others - the harvest!
God is hanging out for us to partner with Him on this! To rescue souls across the planet is going to cost money, hands down. He'll increase our store to fund this rescue mission - if only we jump on board the giving wagon!

The boy and his lunchbox in the gospel didn't give a 10th of his lunch. He gave up ALL he had. He offered it IN FAITH (which is all it takes!) and GOD gave the increase! God will increase and increase your ability to sow and give in your life, the more YOU choose to give!
2 Corinthians 8:3 - according to their ability and BEYOND their ability they gave.
The offering is about the harvest and so of course it requires a miracle - have you seen how nay people need their souls to be saved on the earth? Sowing seeds is tapping into the miraculous! This fantastic storehouse of seeds God has waiting for us, if only we offer in FAITH. It's always going to take faith - have childlike faith!

GENEROUS WORSHIPPERS AT EASTGATE CHURCH
We are all, as God's children, called to be generous worshippers. We WORSHIP God with what we give. That's got to be the heart of giving - worship.
Not religion, not rules, not regulations, not out of a sense of duty - but out of love.
Because we love God, and we want to worship Him, the one and only God - with EVERYTHING He has entrusted to us - our time, energy, money...
Part of our vision statement at Eastgate is to be generous worshippers. Our mission statement is to glorify Christ and make Him famous. Let's worship God with every possession, every thing we have, to glorify Him and spread His fame!

Soul Food- Fasting

Hey Soul Fooders - we covered FASTING yesterday at Soul Food to build on what we learnt about prayer. A lot of what we covered I got from Jentezen Franklin's book "Fasting" - check it out for heaps more revelation and detail! Otherwie, here is a cheat sheet if you couldn't make it yesterday - love Niks xxx

WHAT IS FASTING?
Fasting is going without food/drink/sleep/sex etc to focus on spiriutal growth. Basically, we humbly deny something of the flesh to GLORIFY God, enhance our spirit and go deeper in our prayer life. Fasting magnifies God, and belittles everything else.
Fasting involves replacing the time you would be eating (or going on facebook, or listening to your ipod, or whatever it is your fasting) with prayer and seeking God.
Biblically, fasting is from FOOD.

Matthew 7:7 - ask and you shall receieve. Knock and the door shall be opened. Seek and you shall find.
Fasting IS seeking. Fasting IS knocking.
Fasting is SEEKING GOD'S FACE MORE FULLY.
When we deliberately set aside a meal/food etc we are showing God we want to seek Him.

Jeremiah 29:12 "Search for me wholeheartedly and you will find me. I will be found by you". God promises us that wewill find Him if we seek him WHOLEheartedly - not halfheartedly! We want to go after Him with ALL our heart! Fasting is a physical, outward declaration that we are seeking God - an expression of what is within our heart!'

FASTING IS EMPTING
You're emptying your body of food, entertainment etc - you're emptying your soul of soulish things, your life of distractions, your stomach of food - you're saying to God "empty me of my sin". When God looks for vessels to use, He looks for empty vessels, not vessels that are full of their own thing.

FASTING IS TASTING
"Taste and see that the Lord is good" Psalm 34:8
Sometimes we're in  place where we can't "taste" God and eat from the banquet He's prepared for us. You can't enjoy the meal God has for you - or IS for you - because you've scalded your tongue and burnt your taste buds! Fasting RESTORES, bring back, enhances our spiritual taste buds. We enjoy Jesus more because we can taste Him better!

FASTING IS WAITING
We've talked about how "waiting on the Lord" is an ACTION word. Whatever it is we are waiting for - provision, His presence, direction, etc - waiting is not a passive or resting word. You've got to be active in your wating, as you wait for God to give you your destiny; show you your calling; your gifts; how He is going to use you...you have to pursue your destiny in Him by waiting upon Him ACTIVELY.
Is 30:18 "Blessed are those who wait upon Him"
Sometimes it feels like God is taking FOREVER to answer our prayers. Have you considered that He is preparing TWICE as much for you and so He is waiting twice as long? He has His reasons - Carrot came up with the cool analogy that God could quickly mould you a nice-looking pot and give it to you, but if you let God take His time with it, He could mould you the most beautiful, intricate, lovely pot WAY better then the other one which would make you SO glad you waited! Yes, God takes His time with some things! Why? Well...why did He choose to make the world over 6 days? He is God - He could have zapped it up straight up - perhaps He is teaching us to take time with things, and to stop and smell the roses after and say "it is good!".
So He His soveriegn reasons for no answering prayer straight up - fasting and praying can reveal them to us.

FASTING IS RESTING
Hebrews 4 speaks of "a rest unto God's people". Read it, before you read this. Fasting is slowing everything down so we enter God's rest. (Time does slow down when you fast - you will notice that. distractions like food and entertainment seem to speed life up a whole deal!) He says "come to me all who are weary and burdened and you will find REST for your souls".
I personally get get frantic and manic tryingto geteverything done and make stuff happen and get caught up in the daily grind of it all. And before i know it - the days and weeks slip away and time just races! There aren't enough hours in the day! But I've found that i can get twice as much done by seeking God in prayer and fasting - seeking Him FIRST - and all that other stuff that I'm caught up in gets taken care of!
"Seek first the kingdom of God and all else shall be added unto you".
If we seek Him FIRST he will take care of all the other stuff - whatever that looks like.
He has a place of rest prepared for us, and calls us to COME and rest in Him. Fasting is COMING. It's being active, declaring in the PHYSICAL that you want change in the SPIRITUAL.
THAT place is where we find rest for our souls,
strength for our weakness,
wisdom for ou foolishness,
courage for our fear...
Sometimes, when our daily lives get clogged with distractions and soulish things, fasting unlocks the gates to this place of rest for us...

FASTING TO KNOW GOD'S WILL
In a certain situatio, in your whole life, or for the upcoming season, or before making a big decision...we want to know GOD'S will and not go by our own will! Yeeks! Unwise!
Fasting to seek God's will/direction is different from praying and petitioning for something we desire. It's acting to strip away all distractions and things that are not God...to find HIS will and not our own.
His will is PERFECT - we don't want or need anything else added or subtracted from that!
You don't just stumble upon the will of God.When you fast and pray, God will give you direction for your life.
He has already planned out an assignment for your life, and He will give birth to that plan as you fast.
It's presenting your whole body - physical and spiritual (we talked about how our body is not just the physical shell, but the spirit and soul also remember) and saying "God, what is your plan and purpose for me?"
There are always new opportunities and assignments from Heaven coming our way and WE DON'T WANT TO MISS THEM!
Chapter 5 of Song of Songs speaks of missed opportunity...
(verse 2) I heard my lover knocking and calling...'open to me, my treasure, my darling, my dove, my perfect one'
(verse 3) She basically responds by saying I can't be stuffed. I'll get dirty. I got my pj's on!"
(verse 6) she goes on to say "I pulled back the bolt, i opened to my lover, but he was gone. I searched for him but could not find him anywhere"
This story speaks of missed opportunity - she changed her mind at last minute but she missed her lover! Heaven has a fantastic mission and plan for our life, and our Bridegroom Jesus is knocking at the door and WE DON'T WANT TO MISS ANYTHING! Because everything from Him is heavenly and awesome! Fasting is us opening that door!
I think of when I'm surfing, and a awesome wave comes my way - sometimes I pike out, for fear that I'll go over the falls, stack it, snap my board (yes I am a GIRL surfer, not a dude, and so i actually THINK of consequences when i surf...) and I'll pull back on this AWESOME wave. And there it goes...and so once it's gone - it's gone. I'll never get that wave back - every single wave is unique and different - and yeah, other waves will come - but it won't be the exact same as that wave that i just let go by.
We don't want to miss one single wave of opportunity heaven wants to hand us! We want to stay attuned to God and his plands and purposes for us, His people - and fasting attunes our ears to Him.

LIVING BY THE SPIRIT
Fasting AWAKENS our Spirit-man. As we starve ourselves of soulish things and our Self lays down, our Spirit begins to rise up and take charge instead! We want to feed our spirit, not our soul.
Galatians 5 talks about living by the spirit and not the flesh (soul).
v 16-18 - Paul talks about living by the spirit and not the flesh/soul
v 19-21 - the results of living by the flesh aren't too great
v 22-23 - the results of living by the spirit are awesome
Fasting is v24 - nailing our fleshly desires and natures to the cross and crucifying them there.

FASTING IS A WEAPON OF WARFARE!
Fasting brings breakthrough of stubborn spirits or strongholds over our lives, towns, other's people's lives, etc.
Matt 17:21 "This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting" - read the story!!
Fasting puts POWER behind our prayer.
Some prayers can ONLY be answered through fasting.
Satan hates fasting - he knows it releases God's power.
Ecc 4 "a three fold cord is not easily broken". the 3 folds to this cord is: praying, giving and fasting.
Praying, fasting, and giving TOGETHER maximizes the release of God's power in our lives.
Jesus knew that some of the benefits and power of fasting cannot be released otherwise - that's why he fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. The devl tried to cause Jesus to focus on desire for food rather than the purposes of the Father.
Fasting is a lost art in Christianity. It should be a regularly part of the normal, everyday life of the Christian. But the devil KNOWS the power of it and has placed much warfare around it I think.
But Jesus CALL us too. He says WHEN you fast (Matt 6:17), WHEN you give, WHEN you pray - NOT IF!!! Fasting was always intended to be a dominant part of our lives.
God wants to pour out supernatural blessings on our lives always, but some will never be released unless we seek Him in fasting and prayer!

FEW TIPS AND THOUGHTS ON FASTING...
Like prayer, it's a lifestyle, not a once-only event. We do it regularly.
During time of fasting, it's important to set aside time to worship and seek God. We don't have to be religious and regimented with it, but it's good to be intentional.
Focus on His Word - get fed with Soul Food instead of physical food. His word, his heavenly downloads, His presence - is WAY better then real food (coming from the girl who feeds 9 times a day........)
Our spiritual eyes get sharper as we read the word and fast at the same time.
It was during my 40 day fast that  I was read scriptures I had read a thousand times over, but suddenly they seemed to have new meaning and revelation - like I said, you read them with sharper eyes if you are fasting as you read the word.
As we read His word while we fast, there is actually room in our souls for His Heavenly downloads!
Write out a Holy Spirt Hit List -  a list of people you want specifically to be saved or special burdens or spiritual objective you want to conquor through your fast.
Write it down - there's power in writing it down, recording it - scripture itself literally means "It is written".
Write it down so you can run with it (Habakkuk 2).
People you want breakthrough for.
Things you want breakthrough for.
Friends/family you want to see saved.

There is never the "perfect time" to fast. There will always be a holiday, a lunch, a birthday, an event - something that creates a bump in your road. You just have to ask God, set a time, a commit to it. He will honour your commitment and reward your resilience. Don't talk yourself out of it because theres hurdles in the road that will make fasting harder. Praise Jesus for the opportunity of sacrifice!

Remember, fasting without praying is merely DIETING or STARVING yourself. Not cool!

Don't become legalistic/religious - God isn't displease with us when we don't fast
Dont become prideful - do it privately (see what Jesus teaches on fasting in Matt. 6:16-18). God rewards openly what is done in private remember...

Daniel received his visions and visitations from the angel of the Lord on His fast (check out the book of Daniel)
Esther caused victory for her people, the Jews, by calling them to fast and pray for 3 days
Smith Wigglesworth received the baptism of the Holy Spirit after spending 2 years in the spiritual wilderness when he fasted for 10 days - he also received the gift of preaching and tongues
JohnWesley fasted twice weekly from sun up to sun down
Charles Finney went 3 days without food every time he felt spiritual diminuationat his meetings

Remember it doesn't just have to be food! Something your flesh is addicted too...maybe it's junk food. For me, coffee is one God has called me to fast numerous times. Maybe it's your ipod. Maybe it's facebook. Maybe it's texting! Ahhh funny how in Jesus' day none of those things existed and now we think we can't live without em.....

Love you!

P.s. everyone who attended this specific Soul Food committed fasting on behalf of one specific person they want to see saved. We wrote our a Holy Spirit Hit List so if you want to join in on our fast and prayer, please do!
Anyway, see you on Tuesday @ Eastgate Church 5.30pm-7pm! Love Niks!

Soul Food- Prayer

Hey guys, if you didn't make it to Soul Food the last couple of rounds, or it fell out of your brain, here's ya cheat notes ;)

PRAYER:

IS NOT AN EVENT - IT'S A LIFESTYLE
We have to make it a part of our life. Lifestyle means "manner of living that reflect the person's values and attitudes". If you value Jesus, and believe his word, you will pray. Simple as that.
Lifestyle also means: to describe the WAY a person lives. So you must live IN PRAYER. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 charges us to "pray without ceasing" - in other words, to maintain communication with God ALWAYS.
Audible language is not essential in prayer. We can speak 1000 words that sound like prayer, and yet never pray! The use of voice often helps me in prayer, but silence is just as good sometimes! God is the only person you see better with your eyes shut, and speak to without opening your mouth!

EXERCISING YOUR PRAYER MUSCLE
Prayer is like a muscle. If you wann stay healthy, you gotta exercise your muscle! Muscles GROW when you constantly and consistantly exercise them.
We all have to grow in prayer life. My own prayer life fluctuates like a muscle. When I exercise it, I feel really spiritually fit and healthy. When I don't, I feel spiritually lazy and unfit. "Spiritually flabby" as The Message puts it (1 Timothy 4:17)
You know when you've lazed aroud all week and have done literall nothing? Well it's easy to feel like that spiritually when you've been un-disciplied with your prayer!

PRAYER CULTIVATES
Cultivate means to "prepare for growth". When you cultivate soil, you are preparig the soil for crops - for fruit to be produced.
Our heart is like a bed of soil. We need to SOW the soil by sowing the SCRIPTURES into our hearts (the word of God is the seed - see Luke 8:5 parable of the farmer).
So we need to SOW in the soil for fruit to be produced, and we also need to CULTIVATE the soil by PRAYING! What is the fruit that is produced? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Spending time with God (in prayer) daily is an INVESTMENT. Prayer feeds your spiritual body. Why is it more important to feed your physical body thean your spiritual body?

JESUS FOUND IN NECESSITY TO PRAY!
Luke 5:16 - If the Son of God found it essential to pray I think that's a pretty clear sign that we need to! He drew away from the crowds - he wanted to know what was on the Father's heat, to communicate with him...

INTERCESSION
Definition: prayer, meditation or interceding on behalf of another
Intecession is a prayer OFFERED to others, as directed and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
God says "who will stand before me in the gap?"
It is standing in the gap on behalf of another nation, event or person.

It's really easy to focys on our needs, our world, our stuff when we pray. And that's ok - because God cares VERY much about your world and he wants us to pray and talk to Him about it.

BUT HE DOESN'T WANT US TO STOP THERE!!!

He wants us to EXPAND our cares and compassion and heart to the things that matter on HIS heart. He wants us to care for the things that are on His heart!
The more you sow in prayer, the more you care. You attach a piece of your heart to what your pray for.
He has chosen since the time of creation to work on earth THROUGH humans, not independantly from them.
From Genesis to Revelation He has always looked for someone to be his hands, his feet, his mouth piece - to do His will.
Yes, the Lord is soveriegn, but he has CHOSEN to ue mankind to carry out His will. He desires intimate relationship with us!
He allows humans to make decisions; we are not puppets - we have a will and a mind.

PRAYER IS NOT OVERCOMING GOD'S RELUCTANCE - IT IS LAYING AHOLD OF GOD'S WILLINGNESS!
His will is for people to be reconciled to Him. (Reconciled means to be made right with Him, made peace with Him, harmonized with Him).
2 Corinthians 5:19-20 speaks about how "we have been given the task of reconciliation".
Prayers do not force God, they release Him!
When you pray for people, it releases the power of God into situations and circumstances. It changes the environment.
Prayer is POWERFUL - it's not a tack on, a to-do for god, something to chuck in the mix...
We're called to preach the gospel to ALL NATIONS. To change the world - to the ends of the earth - but it all starts with prayer.
WHAT IS ON GOD'S HEART RIGHT NOW?
Watch the news, pick up a newspaper; look at the sex trafficking, the child soldiers, the wars...
Who will stand in th gap for these people?
There are so many people who do not have a relationship with God - but we do! No matter what it looks like or how far we are on our journey with Jesus - WE DO!
And we do not have it just for ourselves! We need to prayer for reconciliation between God and His people!
We have to pray for Byron Bay, the Shire, the Northern Region. Byron Bay High School, Mullum High...
if we don't pray for the people in this town, then WHO WILL? WHO will stand in the gap?

THE SACRIFICE OF PRAYER
We have direct acess to the King of Kings every day - we cannot be selfish with it!
We must yield ourselves to him and say "what is on your heart God?"
(To yeild: to give in to influenc, to move in order to make room for something)
We must give in to the influence of the Holy Spirit and make room for God in our hearts by sacrificing time to pray!
I can stand here in Australia and make a different in Greece with the sex trafficking as I pray in the mercies of God.
We can sit in our bedrooms and make a difference in Byron Bay High by sowing in prayer.
But there's a sacrifice - are willing to sacrifice our time? Are we willing to put aside our "busy" time to intercede for peope?
Remember, you are INVESTING time, not losing it, when you pray!

It starts HERE and NOW and THEN - not when we FEEL called to do it. Not once we've got all healed up, got all our to-do's crossed off and done our own thing.

ESTHER - Esther knew her people, the Jews, were going to be massacred, because of the evil dude Haman. (Chapters 3-4). So Esther (4 vs 15) gathers her people the fast and pray for 3 days - and guess who had to victory? That's right! The jews! Against all odds!
We need to be the Esther's of Byron Bay. Fasting and praying for our generation, for the people in town, the youth in our high schools...for them to be awakened to the truth of Christ!
Yes, we can get into heaven with the tick of salvation. But are we happy with stopping there? Or does the love of Christ compel us - with an urgency - to pray for the salvation of others? For other to recieve and experience the kind of love we have? Are we happy strolling through the gates of heaven without honouring the title of "my brother's keeper"or "my sister's keeper"?
Are we willng to say "Let's pray and fast on behalf of the people who are treated unjustly! On behalf of the people who don't know God!"

If you see someone limping blindly, staggering across the road, are you going to simply stand there and watch their fate? While an onslaught of cars comes toward them that they can't even see? Or are you going to run into the middle of the traffic and INTERCEDE and help them across safely - THEY don't have the strength and knowledge to get across the road safely, but because of Christ in you, YOU DO! Help them across the chasm before they face death! Be the bridge builder! (Priest literally means bridge builder, and we are called by God a holy priesthood.

Ask yourself:
"Am I willing to pray for the things that are on His heart?"
Am I willing to yield more to Him?
Am i willing to let my heart be broken for Him and His cause - people - as I pray for them?"

PRAYER LIFE TIPS:
You don't have to be religious with this, but sometimes a little structure in our prayer life help. You can use this as a guideline when you pray if you want:

Acronym - ACTS
A - Admiration
Admire Him for who He is. Recognize and delight in and ponder His beauty. His beautiful nature, His pure kindness that never ceases. Take time to just think about how great and loving and merciful your God is, and oh how He loves you!

C - Confess
Confess your sins. He always hears you and is unwaveringly compassionate and never, ever fails to forgive you. He knows your sin - but do you?? He wants you to know your sin so He can set you free from it as you pursue your healing. Talk to God about your sin and ask Him to change your heart.

T - Thanksgiving
Thank Him and praise Him for what He's done. Praise is POWERFUL. When David scribes his excruiciating experience in the spiritual wilderness in Psalm 63 it actually ends in PRAISE! He proves to us that you can have a dry heart, and STILL praise God!
What do you love about God? What are the blessings in your life? Recognise them and that they're from Him. Thank Him. Your Daddy loves your appreciation because He loves YOU! A husband blesses his wife with flowers to make her feel special and loved AND because he loves to see her reaction! Her appreciation of His love and gratefulness - so it is with our Heavenly Husband, our Bridegroom Jesus!

S - Supplication
What are the things you need to pray for? Who are the people you need to pray for? What are the needs in your own life? Ephesians 6 charges us to "pray in the Spirit with ALL kinds of requests". Make your requests known to the Father - you have not, because you ask not. (James 4:2 - don't forget to read the context though!)
